Birthdays - The Salad Centre would always be pleased to do a birthday lunch. They will reserve tables so numbers attending would have to be given. If you would like to arrange a birthday lunch with some of us attending then please let me know too. I will send out the details to get the numbers attending and it can be arranged maybe in addition to something you have already planned
Events - things to share
If you have any related news to share, or events to send out, Please send them to me well in advance / as soon as you possibly can,
so that i can include them in the News and Events for Febuary and to add to the Blog or reviews page on our website - giving people plenty of time to organise and attend etc.. Please say what contact details you need in the info. if you need to be contacted.
Would you like to host a 'Vegan pot luck' / 'bring and share' meal at your place? If so please let me know. Vegan pot luck meals in homes can be for any amount of hours convenient to the host. eg. 3, 4 or 5pm till 7, 8 or 9pm, etc. or less or more time. The host invites us to his or her house for a social gathering and everyone attending takes food of their choice, hence 'pot luck'. Generally, it's not known how many people will turn up but if there is a limit to how many people your place will take, 'so to speak' then please email and something can possibly be arranged, although generally people may come and go so this hasn’t been a concern for anyone in the past, as no one notices because we are all having a lovely time!
These events are very cosy socials.. lovely to attend.. please consider being a host or to attend them.
Also if you are are not sure about what vegan food to take then please email.
Can you suggest a veggie or vegan friendly place to meet? If you know of cafés, restaurants other venues where we could possibly meet for lunch during the day or evening meal so that more social meetings can be arranged.
Or if you have any other ideas please let me know. ----------

Dear All Now the backlash following the court case begins in earnest. We all know the down side of the RSPCA but my enemy's enemy is my friend and they have done us all a great service by bringing the arrogant and violent to book. There will be tremendous pressure on them to draw back from this path and to oust Gavin the Good so I think we small people need to throw our weight behind them in this instance. I believe they have a separate fund for court cases. The link below to the unsurprising article in the Mail on Sunday may not work but you can paste the link into your browser or just do what I did and go to the Mail on Sunday. The article is in today. Further down this page is the text of a letter I have sent which may or may not get into print. Happy New Year by the way.xx Frankie Thanks to Daphne B for alerting me to this. Revealed: RSPCA destroys HALF of the animals that it rescues - yet thousands are completely healthy
A shock investigation has found the RSPCA is routinely destroying animals for 'non-medical reasons', with more than 3,400 destroyed without signs of ill health in 2011.

www.dailymail.co.uk Letter I sent to Mail on Sunday today: Dear Sir Like most people in this country I am deeply saddened that many animals are killed before they are rehomed however it is not news to me and I suspect it is only headlines now because of the fury of the hunting fraternity following the recent successful RSPCA case against the Heythrop hunt. In my experience it is standard practice of hunters to divert attention whenever they are caught out in wrong doing and I suspect that is what is happening here. I have noticed a back lash in the media against the RSPCA ever since the case and while it is terrible that so many animals are destroyed unnecessarily that does not detract from the fact that the RSPCA have had to step in because neither the police or CPS seem willing to prosecute cases of illegal hunting when it is perpetrated by established hunts. So, despite my misgivings about some aspects of its practice I say, well done the RSPCA for standing up to these bully boys and shame on the law enforcement authorities for failing in their duty. If the law enforcement agencies did their job without fear or favour it would release organisations such as the RSPCA from such expense. As it is, along with LACS, IFAW and POWA, they are only people we can turn to who will take notice of our concerns re violations of the hunting act. I hope its important animal care work will not be compromised by this vitriolic attack by hunters who have found that the RSPCA won't fit in their pocket as snugly as some law enforcement agents seem to do. yours sincerely Frankie James Ringwood, Hants
Thank you Frankie!!
